If I don't understand a problem, the system will walk me through it step by step, then give me a new problem (for credit) based on the same principles. One out of every ten problems comes with a video of a teacher working it out on a blackboard--then you get to try at home. Best of all, you have INSTANT feedback. That's the thing that killed me back in the day. There were plenty of times I thought I understood the principles. When I got my homework back two weeks later, I was genuinely surprised to see I'd failed miserably.
